Meet Northwest’s Board
Paul is from Maple Ridge. He and his wife, Heather are both graduates of NBTC. Paul is a medical doctor with BC Corrections. He and his family attend CornerStone Neighbourhood Fellowship.
Rob is a member of Southridge Fellowship Church. He is the Dean of Leadership of the World Evangelical Alliance and Director of the International Missionary Training Network of the Mission Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance. He has been a missionary with WEC, pastor of Spanish Ministry at Willingdon Church, and pastor of Experanza Multicultural Church. Rob holds a Bachelor or Religious Education from NBTC, Master of Divinity (Regent) and Doctor of Ministry (TEDS). Rob is married to Silvia and they have 3 children.
Julia and her husband Frank attend Southridge Fellowship Church. She is a registered nurse with 25 years experience and graduated from NBS/ACTS with a Master of Theological Studies in Counseling. She has been a Christian Counselor for 17 yrs and previously served on the Northwest board.
Robert (Rusty) Foerger
“Rusty” has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church for some 28 years where he has served in numerous capacities, including the Leadership Team. He currently serves as the coordinator for the Teaching Team, and he and his wife, Mercy, serve as “chaplain” to the Leadership Team. Both he and his wife are “marriage mentors” and mentors to a growing church. He works to integrate faith into the service of his Church Family, as Chairperson for a Restorative Justice Organization, and his career as Assistant Fire Marshal for the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, where he has served over 32 years. Rusty is a life long learner who has a B.A. in Psychology; Graduate Diploma in Adult Education; Safety Codes Certification; Certified coach in both hockey and soccer; and is currently slowly working toward a theological degree.
Merv has been an educator/administrator for over 30 years, executive pastor for 4 years and has served on numerous boards and committees. He served on the National Fellowship Board, FEBPrairies Board and has served on the NBS Board of Governors as the FEBPrairies representative. Merv and his wife Joan attend Immanuel Fellowship, Abbotsford. Merv is the Fellowship Pacific Board representative.
Paul Olson grew up at Central Baptist in Victoria. He attended Northwest Baptist College from 1988-1992 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. He is married to his lovely wife Julie whom he met at Northwest and they have five children: Rebecca, Zachary, Alina, Elijah, and Tyler. He is currently the Pastor of Family Ministries at Burnett Fellowship Church in Maple Ridge where he has been on staff in a variety of positions for the past 16 ½ years. Before that he was the Worship and CE Pastor at Parkland Fellowship for four years. He is currently an Immerse Mentor for Glory Destura. Immerse is a program that he feels is cutting edge and will serve our Fellowship well into the future. From this role, he has some valuable input that being on the BOG might benefit from.
Wes is from Maple Ridge Baptist Church where he is a small group leader. He also serves on the Camp Qwanoes Board. He has served on the church board and has been involved in youth and music ministries. Wes attended NBTC after graduating from high school and is now part of a family business in the Lower Mainland. Wes is married to Lori and they have 3 grown children.
Carol’s husband, Brian Stewart, is the Lead Pastor of Parkland Fellowship, Surrey and they have two young adult children. Carol’s education includes a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), CA (Chartered Accountant) and MTS (Masters of Theological Studies). She is a faculty member with the School of Business at Kwantlen Polytechnic University teaching Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Not-For-Profit Financial Management. From 2009 to 2012, she was Chair of the Accounting Faculty. She currently serves on two boards, WINGS, a ministry of FEB Pacific, operating a transition house ministry for women and children fleeing domestic violence, and the National Council of the Fellowship. Other boards she has served on include Fellowship International, Heritage Theological Seminary, and Woodstock Crisis Pregnancy Centre.
Dennis graduated from NBTC with a Bachelor of Theology. He and his wife, Lorrie attend Journey Church in Langley.
Teunis is active in Municipal Affairs serving as the mayor of Qualicum Beach. He is chair of the Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia. He and his family attend Parksville Baptist Church where he is a member of the finance committee.
