What’s Involved?
At its core, the YLTP directs students toward the completion of a Master of Arts in Christian Studies (MACS), with a specialization in youth ministry. The path to the MACS varies depending on the individual student, but usually contains the following:
The Executive Certificate in Youth Ministry (EC1). This four-course (12 credit) package is the foundational educational piece in the YLTP, offering students hands-on training in the core competencies of youth ministry. Certificate courses are available at both the undergraduate and graduate level, meaning that regardless of your on-ramp you’re able to dig in right away and start learning from skilled FEB Pacific youth ministry workers.
The Diploma in Christian Studies (DCS). The DCS is a 9-course (27 credit) graduate-level certification that serves as the pre-cursor to a full MACS for students who enter the YLTP with less than a full undergraduate degree. Students who take the Executive Certificate along with the DCS need only five additional courses, with two of these being completely online and the other three available as one-week modules.
The Executive Certificate in Advanced Youth Ministry (EC2). This four-course (12 credit) package, taught by experts in youth ministry, builds on the foundations provided in EC1. It’s usually part of the full MACS, but can slot into the DCS for those who have taken EC1 at the undergraduate level.
Master of Arts in Christian Studies (MACS). This 48-credit degree offered by Northwest Baptist Seminary and Trinity Western University is recognized the world over for its high quality of instruction and educational excellence. Students benefit not only from having taking specialization courses in youth ministry, but also from the chance to reflect on their learning and ministry through the final graduating essay.
