Who Can Participate?

The flexibility of the YLTP means that there is an on-ramp for nearly everyone showing evidence of gifting and calling towards the work of full-time vocational ministry who is active in a FEB Pacific church.

What exactly does that mean? What we’re talking about here is a demonstrated heart for ministry and a track record of ministry fruitfulness in working with young people. Taking on the YLTP is a fairly substantial commitment, and, as the saying goes, past performance is the best indication of future success. With that being said, we don’t want the gates to be too narrow, so we’re not looking for specific numbers.

Although it’s a graduate-level program, students come into the YLTP from a variety of educational backgrounds that aren’t necessarily the traditional routes to graduate study. In fact, the majority of our students come into the YLTP having completed some post-secondary education but not a full degree.

There are two pathways in this case. First, students who have more than 60 hours of undergraduate study can begin working at a graduate level toward a Diploma in Christian Studies (DCS), taking the core YLTP courses as part of this program. When the DCS is completed (with a minimum 2.5 GPA), students are declared to be equivalent-to-undergraduate, and can enroll in the Master of Arts in Christian Studies (MACS).

Second, students who have less than 60 hours of undergraduate study can take the core youth courses of the YLTP at the undergraduate level, either as a standalone ministry equipping program or as a pathway to the 60 hours of undergraduate work required for entry into the DCS.

Of course, we also have students who come into the YLTP in the “traditional” way, with a completed undergraduate degree. When this is the case the student can move directly into the MACS, taking the YLTP core courses as a specialization.

The main theme here is flexibility: no matter where you’re at, the YLTP can be of value to you. If this sounds like a good fit, get in touch with us to begin the conversation.
