Here is how to set up Outlook to send and receive from your @nbseminary.ca email account. Click on an image thumbnail to enlarge it. Click off of it or press “Esc” on your keyboard to close it.
Let’s start with a link to Google’s information on the different approaches to using Gmail with a third party application. I would encourage you to read up on the difference between IMAP and POP. This page will walk you through setting up for IMAP.
Step 1 (in your @nbseminary.ca account): Log into your email account mail.nbseminary.ca
Once you are logged in navigate to the Settings page. You can find the Settings link in the top right corner of the page. Click on the gear shaped image to open the drop-down. Once you are on the Settings page navigate to the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
Scroll down to the IMAP Access section and click on the “Enable IMAP” radio button. Then scroll down a little further and click the “Save Changes” button.
Step 2 (in your Outlook application):
Open Outlook and click on the Tools menu and navigate down to Accounts
Then click on New
Then choose Microsoft etc… and click Next…
Fill in your information and then check the “Manually configure…” check box. Then click next.
Then select “Internet Email”… and click “Next”…
Fill in the Server (IMAP) information as shown below and then click the “More Settings…” button.
This will open the “Internet E-mail Settings” dialogue box. Follow the next three screenshots carefully:
Click “OK” to close the “Internet E-Mail Settings” box. If you want to test your settings before proceeding click “Test Account Settings…”
If you receive an error message like the screenshot below go back and check all of your settings again.
Finally finish the process and close the setup wizard.
